Russell Eames graduated from Hall-Dale High School, Hallowell Me. in 1964. Where he was active in Glee Club, played clarinet in the school band,was a member of the Literary and Latin clubs, and played on the football team. He was also the school correspondent for the local newspaper, which was the first step in his lifelong career in journalism. He also volunteered in the gym of the Togus US Veterans Administration Hospital, which was again, his long and varied commitment to volunteer work wherever he lived. He sang in the Junior Choir of the Old South Congregational Church of Hallowell , and was baptized there in 1953.
Russell attended 1 year at Northeastern University, organized the school newspaper , the Superbia, and was active in other school affairs. Russell attended Worcester State College from 1974-1976. He then went to work at the Worcester Telegram and Gazette, joined the Naval reserves and upon his return, went back to work at the Worcester Telegram and Gazette where he worked for many years and finished out his career as a very influential reporter.
Russell joined the US Naval Reserved , where he served until 1967. During his service, he attained the rank of Quartermaster 3rd Class. During his Naval service,he went to Cuba and the Mediterranean among other places.
Russell leaves his two sons, Peter D. Eames of Worcester, Brian Russell Eames of Worcester. Russell also leaves 4 brothers and 2 sisters, Peter Eames and Stanley Eames of Gardiner Maine. Michael MacFarland of Chelsea,Maine. Robert MacFarland of Farmingdale Maine. Kathy Theberge of Hallowell Maine, and Caroline Eames Brasler of Arlington Virginia; as well as countless nieces and nephews.
