MILLBURY: Roland O. Langevin, 88, passed away peacefully at his home, Thursday, June 23, 2022, surrounded by his loving family after a period of failing health. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Carol A. (Russell) Langevin of Millbury, his children: Beth A. Marr and her husband John of Sturbridge, Paul R. Langevin of Millbury, Lisa J. Fisher and her husband Daniel of West Bridgewater, and Scott A. Langevin of Millbury; grandchildren: Christopher Langevin, Brian Rydant, John Marr III, Nicholas Langevin, Shelby Langevin, Annalise Langevin, Kaylee Miraglia, Christopher Fisher, and Alexander Fisher; 1 great-grandchild, Tabitha Langevin; his two sisters Jeanette Bruso and her husband James of Millbury and Marguerite Boutiette of South Grafton along with many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother Robert P. Langevin.
Roland was born in Worcester, MA the son of the late Oscar and Louisa (Bathalon) Langevin. The family moved to Grafton Ma, in 1937 where he enjoyed playing and swimming in Lake Ripple. He graduated from Holy Family school in Worcester before joining the United States Air Force. He served his country during the Korean Conflict from 1952 to 1956. He was stationed in both France and England.
Upon his honorable discharge, he returned to the states where he met Carol and they were married January 31,1959. They started their family in Grafton, moving to Millbury in 1964. He worked as a welder at F&G Construction and 25 years for Sweet Life Foods, retiring in 1995. He was a member of the Teamsters Local 170 in Worcester, the American Legion Post 318 in Worcester, and St Brigid’s Church in Millbury. He was always willing to lend a hand to neighbors and family when needed. He was very mechanically inclined and could repair just about anything. He spent many summer Saturday nights at Westborough Speedway or Thompson Speedway in the pits welding and working on Bourget’s race car. He enjoyed automotive racing, fishing, airplanes, classic automobiles and eating steamed clams and lobster. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren who he would entertain every Christmas Eve by playing Santa.
All are invited to his funeral Mass on Saturday, July 23, 2022, at 11 am at St. Brigid Church, 59 North Main Street, Millbury, MA 01527. The burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Roland’s memory to JHC Hospice, 646 Salisbury Street Worcester, Massachusetts 01609 or to St. Brigid Church, 59 North Main Street, Millbury, MA 01527.
