Roger Johnson

Roger Johnson aged 81, died July 23 2024 at UMass Medical Health Center in Worcester after a brief illness. He is survived by his sons Roger Johnson, Bryant Johnson, Orlando Colon, and his daughters Tuwanda Johnson, Audrey Hampton was also father figure to Jovanna Morales, Vilma Morales, Carlos Rivera and Jorge Ramos. He was preceded in passing by his former wife Priscilla Johnson, long-time partner Nilda Fontanez and brothers William Johnson Jr., Joseph Johnson and sister Mae Pearl Johnson. 

 Born in Appomattox Virginia on February 27th, 1943, he was the son of the late William and Mary Johnson and lived in New Bedford Massachusetts for most of his life. Roger graduated from Appomattox County High School before working as a maintenance tech for a local bowling alley and finally spending close to three decades in the fishing industry, where he retired. 

 Roger was known for his passion for the outdoors, in particular fishing, a well-regarded familial pastime. He was an avid sports fan, including basketball, football, and baseball, and enjoyed keeping up with and discussing politics. 

 As a family man, he loved taking time to visit his family and traveling to do so. Most of all, he was a loving and caring father, who will be deeply missed.

 Memorial Service to be held at 6pm Thursday August 1, 2024 at 6pm
