Norma Maria Maillet

June 7, 1941 — March 2, 2025

Ware, MA

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Norma Maria Maillet, who left us peacefully on March 2, 2025 at the age of 84.

Norma was born on June 7, 1941 in Fitchburg Massachusetts. She was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She grew up in Fitchburg where she built a life with her love, Denis, and four children. In 1977, Norma and Denis moved their family to Montreal, Quebec where they lived for five years and eventually made a home in Ottawa, Ontario, living there for another seven years. They ultimately returned to Massachusetts in 1989, but they continued to travel when Denis' work took them to Hong Kong and the Philippines. Her grandchildren have fond memories of their visits to their home in Cape Cod.

Norma had a profound impact on those who knew her, touching countless lives with her kindness, warmth and generosity, regardless of where she lived. Everyone who knew her loved her, and she was the keeper of life long friends and memories. If you ever mailed her a card, she kept it for life. We will be sorting through cards from as early back as the 1960’s to present day. They are a symbol of how much she cherished all of us.

Norma loved spending time in the kitchen, creating delicious meals for her family. We often joked that Norma had a passionate love affair with donuts from all around the world. Norma had a special way with babies, and it was inevitable that she would be holding one if one was present. She adored everything that she deemed “cute” and “little.”

Norma is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Denis Maillet; her four children, Rick Souliere (Mary Beth), Marty Souliere, Laura Maillet, and Greg Maillet; her grandchildren, Raeanne Souliere (Patrick), Charlene Allen (Robert), Jacob Remus, Kayla Remus, Abby Maillet, and Logan Maillet; her siblings, Ronald Goudreau (Martin), and Sandra Piermarini (Anthony). She was preceded in death by her parents, J. Arthur and Doris Goudreau.

Norma’s family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Cedarbrook Village, Maureen LaPete, Laurie Wilkinson, and Baystate Hospice for their support during this time. Your compassion and caretaking efforts are greatly appreciated.

A celebration of Norma's life will be held April 12, 2025 from 1-4pm at The 1761 Old Mill Restaurant (69 State Road East, Westminster, MA). Further details can be found in the photo below. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association in Norma’s memory.

Though she is no longer with us, Norma’s spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

Rest in peace, Norma. You will always be loved.
