Nelson Martinez Rodriguez

Nelson Martinez Rodriguez, 52, of Worcester, MA, passed away peacefully at home, on Saturday, April 29, 2023, surrounded by his loving family, after a period of declining health.

Nelson was born in Adjuntas, Puerto Rico, on January 13, 1971, one of 16 children of the late Marcelino Martinez Rodriguez and Angela Rodriguez Pacheco. He was raised in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, where he lived for most of his life until moving to Worcester, MA 2 years ago. He was a graduate of Job Corps, where he learned skilled carpentry and woodworking. Nelson worked for many years as a grocery store manager in Puerto Rico. 

Nelson was a jack of all trades and a true handyman. He enjoyed practicing his trade of woodworking as well as doing mechanic work and fixing things for people. He was a voracious reader and loved to work in his gardens. He will be missed the most for his kind and caring spirit. He was a beacon of happiness, who had a gift for lifting the spirits of anyone in his presence. He was a true family man and the glue that held everyone together.

Nelson is survived by 11 siblings, Gladys Martinez Rodriguez, Vidal Martinez Rodriguez, Hilda Martinez Rodriguez, Blanca Martinez Rodriguez, Julio Martinez Rodriguez, Samuel Martinez Rodriguez, Jose Martinez Rodriguez, William Martinez Rodriguez, Hector Martinez Rodriguez, Marilyn Martinez Rodriguez and Carlos Martinez Rodriguez; his nieces and nephews, Angela, Eduardo, Luis, Jose, Javier, Gabriel, Jorge, Albert, Armando, Yaritza, Luz, Alexander, Kidanny, Josue, Joel and Pedro. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his siblings, Daniel Martinez Rodriguez, Ivan Martinez Rodriguez, Luis Martinez Rodriguez and Felicita Martinez Rodriguez.

Relatives and friends are invited to a period of visitation from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm on Monday, May 8, 2023 followed by a Celebration of his life at 12:00 pm at Comfort Cremation Funeral Home and Chapel at 1027 Main St., Worcester, MA 01603. A funeral cortege will process to Hope Cemetery for interment at the conclusion of the celebration of life.
