Martha (Marty) J. Rogers, born on February 16, 1961, in Worcester, Massachusetts, passed away unexpectedly on December 16, 2024, in the same city. She was known for her outgoing personality, deep affection for her family, and a genuine love for her friends and pets.
Marty is survived by her sister Frances (Fran) Robinson, and her brother Rocky Rogers, along with many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews, who will carry her legacy in their hearts. She was preceded in death by her father Raymond C. Rogers, her mother Jennie L. Rogers, her brother Frederick R. Rogers, and her nephew Scott M. Rogers, and niece Mae L. Ireland. There's no doubt that she was greeted with open arms when she crossed over.
Marty held a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology and Anthropology from Clark University, where she also earned a Master’s Degree in International Development, focusing on Anthropology. Her academic pursuits took her to a small town in England for three months of anthropological research, a testament to her dedication and passion for understanding diverse cultures. Following her education, she briefly taught at Yeshiva Academy in Worcester, contributing to the educational landscape of her community.
Her cherished memories were deeply rooted in past family gatherings, particularly during Thanksgiving and Christmas, as well as summers spent at Buffam's Dam with loved ones on the 4th of July. She loved the beach and Ogunquit, Maine and briefly lived in Cape Coral, Florida. These moments exemplified the joy and love that defined her life.
She loved the monthly "W.O.O.C" club meetings of the past with female friends & nieces, a crazy bunch of "Women Out of Control".
In her younger years, she was an enthusiastic softball player with the Worcester Lassie League, and she remained a devoted sports fan throughout her life. Marty enjoyed cheering for the New England Patriots with great vigor, and a Coca-Cola in hand, and seldom missed a chance to catch a Red Sox game, exemplifying her everlasting spirit and love for the game.
Marty's passing leaves a void in the lives of all who knew her, but her memory and the love she shared will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends. Marty now knows the "secret" of what happens next.
With much love from your family and friends, until we meet again ... ABAGA.
There will be no funeral service; we invite you to privately celebrate Marty in your own ways.
We are sure that she will be with us all in spirit.
