Margaret Mary McGuire, fondly known as Peg, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at her home on May 8, 2024. Born on December 11, 1943, in Rochester, NY, to Margaret and Bill Owen, she leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience.
Peg's journey began at Mercy High School in Rochester, NY, where she cultivated her education, followed by earning her associate's degree from a college in Kentucky. She dedicated many years to the law firm of Mr. Buchanan before embarking on the adventure of raising a family with her beloved husband in Massachusetts. A pillar of her community, she spearheaded the kit fundraiser program at Our Lady of Jasna Gora and brought her warmth to local schools, working in their cafeterias.
Peg's Irish stubbornness was not merely a trait; it was her guiding light, her superpower, empowering her with strength and fortitude throughout her life. She cherished moments with her family, relishing the joy of spending time with her ten grandchildren and pursuing various hobbies. Whether camping at Long Lake or engaging in spirited games of Euchre and Scrabble, Peg found immense joy in the company of her lifelong friends and family. Her love for crossword puzzles and reading also filled her quiet moments with contentment.
Peg's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched, especially her surviving family: sons Terry (Kristie), Tim (Sacha), Matt (Sarah), and daughters Aimee (Gef), and Meg. Along with her cherished grandchildren, Owen, Maggie, Quincy, Robbie, Charlotte, Molly, Griffin, Alexa, Cole, and Hayden. She now rests in eternal peace, reunited with her loving husband, Robert. Welcoming her into the afterlife are her mother Margaret, father Bill, brothers Denny and Jim, and many dear friends.
Peg's legacy of kindness, resilience, and unwavering love for her family will continue to inspire generations. Her infectious laughter will echo in the memories of all who knew her. As we bid farewell to Margaret Mary McGuire in this world, we find solace in the knowledge that her spirit will forever brighten our hearts.
