Worcester

June Elida (Anderson) Camarra, loving daughter, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed peacefully, December 9, in the comfort of her home. She was a spitfire, at the young age of 89. She was born in NY to parents Gilbert and Ethel (Hepler) Anderson. During the short time June was in hospice care, she was comforted with daily family visits and family gatherings. As she gifted us with her love during her final days, she was also blessed and surrounded with the love of family.

June loved to entertain, alongside her friend and longtime companion, Owen Coogan. Even the simplest dinners became festive events. You never knew who would be there but all were welcome and considered family, even strangers they met that day. June jazzed up every party’s end playing the “Darktown Strutters Ball” on the piano and Owen followed her with singing Frankie Lane’s “Shine” and always, an Irish Coffee.

She was an executive assistant at Owen C. Coogan, Inc. Fundraising Counsel for over 30 years. There she worked on nonprofit campaigns for organizations from Maine to Washington, DC to St. Thomas, USVI. She also worked as a billing clerk for her daughter Debra’s company, Worcester County Air Freight.

She leaves her daughter and caretaker, Debra Remillard, with whom she lived. Grandaughters, Kristina Whitcomb and husband Chad, Michelle Remillard, Catherine Remillard and her boyfriend Dave Potenti. She also leaves great grandsons Benjamin, Kyle, Nicholas, Caleb and Devante. Her great grandson Talon, went home to Jesus in 2013. June was the oldest of six, and leaves her siblings, Lois McMahon, Eddy Anderson and his wife Cheryl, Pauline Burroughs and her husband Steve, all of California, Marc Anderson and his wife Patti and Leslie Karpinski and her husband Michael, all who recently moved from California to South Carolina, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her best friend Owen Coogan with whom she enjoyed life.

We would like to thank her wonderful and amazing aid, Hailey, for her love and laughter; her PC, Dr.Talal Bou-Harb and staff, especially Darlene for never leaving anything undone; the staff at the Harrington Cancer Center for their gentleness with the “baby” needles; the Wound Clinic of Charlton for their welcoming kindness; and Dr. Magoo, her nephrologist for keeping her free of dialysis.

Donations can be made to the organization of your choice, but her favorite non-profit organization was Talon’s Christmas Wish (TalonsChristmasWish.org).

June wished to be cremated with her ashes kept close to her family. Services will be private.
