Joannie Clark, affectionately known as the "hat lady," passed away on January 23, 2025, in Clinton, MA. Born on July 7, 1954, in Concord, MA, Joannie brought warmth and joy to those around her, embodying a spirit that never met a stranger who wasn't a friend. Her infectious smile was complemented by her love of vibrant hats, making her a colorful presence wherever she went. Like a peacock flaunting its feathers, Joannie’s big heart always overflowed with kindness and compassion.
Throughout her life, Joannie cultivated a rich tapestry of interests and hobbies. An eclectic collector, she possessed an intrinsic love for hats, particularly those adorned in the color purple, a hue that mirrored her vivacious personality. Her passion for life extended into her fondness for hiking, photography, and seeking out the tranquility of waterfalls. Joannie embraced adventures with an open heart, often sharing these experiences with loved ones, which created lasting memories cherished by all who knew her.
Joannie leaves behind a loving family who will carry her spirit forward. She is survived by her daughter Vanessa (Vanna), son-in-law Jon, and her grandcat, Penny. She will also be dearly remembered by her siblings and their spouses: Danny and Mary Anne Saliga, Dave and Joyce Saliga, Jeanne and Richie Capello, and Michelle and Gil Bernier. Joannie’s legacy lives on through her grandchildren, Andrew and Austin Clark, as well as her cherished friends Mary Lou Matteson and Joanne Micinally Pitt.
Joannie was preceded in death by her beloved son Gary Clark, her parents Francis and Robert Saliga, and her grandcat Cookie Clark. Her memory will be forever woven into the lives of those she touched with her genuine love and zest for life. Her vibrant personality will be deeply missed, and her presence will continue to inspire those who strive to embrace kindness, adventure, and laughter, just as she did.
