Janet May Falvey, born on October 6, 1934, in Worcester, MA, peacefully departed this world on October 12, 2024, at her Lancaster home.
She was the daughter of Edwin and Dorothy (Leonard) Warpula who predeceased her. Janet graduated from Commerce High School in 1953 and Clark University in 1985. She worked at The Paul Revere Life Insurance Company for forty plus years, retiring in the late 1990s.
Janet leaves her daughter, JoAnne McTiernan, with whom she lived; a sister, Michele Sweetser; two nieces, Tammy Gaffney and Heidi Clermont; two nephews, John Bennett and Joel Sweetser; and four grandnieces and three grandnephews. Her husband, Thomas J. Falvey, and younger sister, Virginia Bennett, predeceased her.
Janet was artistic and loved to draw, sew, crochet, and knit. She moved to north central MA in the 2000s and was a choir member at Immaculate Conception (Lancaster) and St. Boniface (Lunenburg) Parishes. Before dementia limited her, Janet enjoyed participating in yoga at the Lancaster Community Center.
The family is appreciative of the care that Janet received at UMASS Memorial (University), St. Francis Rehabilitation, and from Health Alliance Hospice (Leominster) after her July fall.
Funeral services, arranged through Comfort Cremation, are private. A memorial service to celebrate Janet’s life will be held at a later date. For those who wish to do so, please consider a donation in memory of Janet to Neady Cats, 215 Worcester Road, Sterling, MA 01564.
