Jane Marie Simmarano (nee Noponen), fondly known as Queen Marie of the s### wagon, passed away on April 3, 2024, in Worcester, MA, at the age of 87. She was born on August 17, 1936, in New York, NY, to the late Henry and Saima Noponen.
Jane was a smart, funny, and educated woman who had a passion for traveling the world. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Jane will be deeply missed by her surviving children: Robert, Ronald, Russell, Lynne, and Richard. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Henry, daughter-in-law Susan, granddaughter Nicole, and grandson Alexander.
In her career, Jane worked at Paul Revere Insurance, Coughlin Electric, and Worcester Control as a mainframe operator when the computer took up the whole building and was run by keypunch cards. In later years, she worked for the town of West Boylston and was an active member in the Grange and Eagles.
Jane was a member of various places of worship including Christ Baptist Church, Calvary Evangelistic Center, and 1st Assembly of God. She found solace and community and her faith traveling to Haiti, Ireland, Israel, Finland, and the Ukraine.
Outside of work, Jane liked spending quality time with her family and friends as well as savoring a good piece of bacon & a strong margarita. Her unorthodox sense of humor and vibrant spirit touched all who knew her.
