It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Emily J. Cournoyer on December 13, 2024, at the age of 70. Emily was a beloved wife, mother, Mimi, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend who touched the hearts of all who knew her.
Emily was married to her soulmate, Paul D. Cournoyer, for 49 years. The two met in high school and began dating in 1970, forging a bond that would last a lifetime. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and partnership. For more than forty years, Emily and Paul ran Central Floor Covering, a family business they shared with love and dedication.
Emily was a cherished mother to Melyssa Cournoyer, Megan Cournoyer and her fiancé Andrew Bolduc, Amanda Cournoyer, Paul Cournoyer and his wife Beth Cournoyer. Her greatest joy in life was being a devoted Mimi to her grandchildren: Lucien, Emily, Violet, Lincoln, Kayla, and Madison. These six beautiful children were the light of her life, and she poured her love into every moment spent with them.
Her warm heart, thoughtful nature, and unwavering support made her a true pillar of love and strength for all who knew her. Emily had a natural gift for bringing people together. She loved to cook and fill her home with the warmth of family, friends, and loved ones.
Emily’s kindness, generosity, and love for life will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, and her legacy of love, compassion, and devotion will continue to inspire us all.
She leaves behind her brothers and sisters: Louis Latour and his wife Marcia, Marilyn Pollone, James Latour and his wife Sue, Michele Desmarais, and John Latour and his wife Christine, her brothers and sisters in-law: Madeleine Cotton, Charlotte Peck and her husband Roger, Claudette Biadasz and her husband Joseph, Suzanne Girard, Theodore Cournoyer Jr. and his wife Lolly, Michael Gaudet, Robert Cournoyer, and Janet Cournoyer. She also leaves behind a lifelong friend, and more like a sister, Pauline Berthiaume, her husband Ronald and their three children.
Emily was lovingly reunited in Heaven with her parents L. Henry and Emily Latour, mother and father in-law Theodore and Edna Cournoyer, dearest cousin and best friend Judy Carmel, brothers and sisters in-law: Gail Brown, Steven Desmarais, Robert Cotton, George Girard, Genevieve Gaudet, Diane Cournoyer, Carmen Hebert, Marc Cournoyer and many other cherished family members.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, a cause that was dear to Emily’s heart.
She is gone from this earth but will forever live on in the hearts of her loved ones.
In honoring Emily's wishes, there will not be any formal services.
