ELLEN (EMOND) CLAY – OBITUARY
Ellen (Emond) Clay, 76, of Worcester, formally of Framingham, passed away on January 25, 2025, at The Odd Fellows Home in Worcester, after a long illness. Born on December 10th, 1948, at the former Whitinsville Hospital in Northbridge, she was the daughter of Clara (Van Brug) and Harold Emond. She graduated from Northbridge High School in 1966 and went on to get her Batchelor’s Degree in Biology from Worcester State College in 1971 on a full scholarship, while working full time at the coffee shop at St Vincent’s hospital in Worcester.
Ellen was a woman ahead of her times, beginning her career at the State Division of Fisheries and Wildlife first as a secretary, then became the first female Conservation Assistant Ranger. After marrying Gordon White, she attended Holliston Jr College, graduating with a degree in Veterinary Technology. She went on to work for various companies in Quality Control. She also became a Home Health Aid, which she did for most of her life.
Ellen was a member of a Christian order and went by the name Sister Michelina Jean Clay, taking the last name of her second husband Brad Clay.
Ellen was a champion racquet ball player, an avid motorcycle rider, and ran for the Board of Health in Medway many years ago.
She was very devoted to her religious studies, loved writing poetry, and drawing religious art.
She is survived by her brother Van Emond and his wife Carol, her sister Julia Emond-Parkin, and former sister-in-law Tracey Emond-Parkin, and several nieces and a nephew. She was predeceased by her brother Arthur Emond and her niece Rachel Emond.
There are no calling hours. A private celebration of life with be held at a later date.
