Contessa Maria Sierra-Young, 44, of Worcester, MA, passed away on Thursday, July 20, 2023, at UMass Medical Center University Campus, with her family by her side, after a brief illness. She leaves behind her beloved husband of over 14 years, Tarus L. Young, Sr.
In addition to her husband, she is also survived by her 3 children, Shamari Sheffield of Guyton, GA, Carmen Young of Worcester, MA and Tarus Young, Jr. of Savannah, GA; her father, Basilio Sierra; her stepmother, Sandra I. Sierra-Ramos; her mother, Carol (Dodge) Clarke; her siblings, Zaira Marie Sierra-Ramos, Samuel Sierra-Ramos, Theresa Cramer, Mary-Lou (Michael,Sr) Westwood and Tina (Bill) Mattingly and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Carmen Sierra and two children lost during childbirth.
Contessa was born on August 14, 1977, in Worcester, MA, where she was raised and graduated from North High School. After graduating high school she went on to earn an associates degree and moved down south, where she spent 4 years in Green Cove, FL and subsequently 8 years in Rincon, GA, before moving back to Worcester, MA, where she has resided for the past 2 years.
Contessa had many hobbies and interests which she enjoyed. She loved to listen to music and watch movies. She was a creative person as well as a talented artist and poet. She was an avid fisherwoman and enjoyed driving on road trips. She will be greatly missed for her delicious cooking skills, but most of all for her kind and loving spirit.
Relatives and friends are invited to a period of visitation and celebration of her life from 6-9pm on Thursday, July 27, 2023 at Comfort Cremation Funeral Home, 1027 Main St. Worcester, MA 01603.
