Carlina Villegas, 56, of Boston, MA, passed away unexpectedly, on Thursday, May 18, 2023, at Brigham and Women’s hospital in Boston, surrounded by her beloved family, after a long period of declining health.
Carlina was born in Harlem, New York, on February 4, 1967, the oldest child of Pedro Jose and Mercedes (Torres) Villegas. She was raised in Worcester, MA and later relocated to Roxbury Crossing in Boston, with her two children, where she had a successful career as a property manager and resided for almost 20 years.
Carlina was a big woman with a larger than life personality. A true humanitarian, Carlina’s work in property management was centered on the belief that affordable housing should be equally accessed by all and throughout her career, she was often an advocate for those less fortunate than her. And as an empath, she wished for every single person to be their most authentic, compassionate, bold and imaginative self. Everyday she exemplified this desire for humanity by using her expertise, wit, humor and heart to be the best she could possibly be for her community, family and friends.
Carlina had many hobbies and interests, which included singing aloud her favorite r&b songs while eating ice, watching Sci-fi and fantasy shows, and coloring in real life or on her phone. She was also a voracious reader, famously tearing through whole books in less than a day. Most of her enjoyment, though, came from spending time with family and friends and supporting her childrens’ creative aspirations by attending her daughters’ theatrical plays and listening to her son’s music.
In addition to both her parents, Carlina is also survived by her longtime companion, Steven Posey of Boston; 2 children, Taryn Blaine Villegas of Boston and Shanelle Chloe Villegas and her fianceé, Kalee Burrows also of Boston; 2 siblings, Pedro Jose Villegas and Claudette Flynn Villegas and her spouse Gail Flynn Villegas Her five nieces: Imanda Hernandez, Jazmin Villegas, Enjoli Pescheta, Zoie Villegas and Sadie Villegas and six nephews: Joell Villegas, David Torres Jr., Pedro Jose Villegas Jr., Angel Villegas, Khaalid Hart and Sione Villegas. In addition to several great nieces and nephews. Carlina now joins her beloved son, Blaine Jordan Villegas.
