Jean Patricia Keelin

March 16, 1947 — January 11, 2024

In loving memory of Jean Patricia Keelin, born on March 16, 1947, in Jamaica Plain, MA, and passing peacefully with her son Courtland by her side in Worcester, MA.

Jean, the cherished daughter of Joseph Keelin and Helen (Shanahan) Keelin, is survived by her only child, Courtland Keelin, (daughter in-law) Kimberly Salmon and (grandchildren) Devon, and Isabella. Jean also leaves behind her brothers, John Keelin (Pennsylvania) and Joseph Keelin (Massachusetts), along with many nieces, nephews, extended family (Salmons/Johnsons), and so many dear friends.

She is also survived by her sister in-law, Mary Jane Couper. And her beloved cat, Seal, who was her calm, respite, and her constant companion.

Jean found the greatest joy in her family. She was an avid photographer, capturing family events, landscapes, and chronicling the growth and life events of her grandchildren, great nieces, and nephews. She loved to ride horses in her youth, and she was an avid reader. Jean also liked to sew and bake bread (Challah bread was her favorite). She was a bookkeeper for most of her career.

Jean’s many friends, including ones she grew up with, loved and cherished the connections they made.

Her friends really were an extension of her family, sisters, and brothers. Jean considered their children her own. There was a powerful and lasting bond that remained until her last day.

Despite facing numerous illnesses, Jean fought tenaciously to be here with us. Regrettably, she succumbed after a battle with Covid Pneumonia.

Predeceased by the love of her life, Gavin Couper who passed away on May 3, 1995. It was a life event she was not prepared for, nor did she ever entirely recover from. May the Lord reunite Jean and Gavin. May she be at full strength and without pain. May she be at peace and whole again, back with the love of her life.

A private memorial and celebration of life service will be held in remembrance of Jean. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jean’s memory to the Sterling Animal Shelter (www.sterlingshelter.org).
