  • Who can authorize cremation?

    The legal next of kin or designated agent (if signed and acknowledged by such person prior to death) can authorize the cremation. In cases where there are multiple next of kin all such persons must authorize the cremation.

  • Can someone other than my legal next of kin authorize the cremation?

    Yes! However, you need to designate that person prior to death.

  • What is your service area?

    Comfort Cremation provides affordable services to all of New England.  Please call 508-304-7445 with any questions.

  • When death occurs, what should I do?

    Has a death occurred? Please call 508-304-7445.  Our funeral directors are here to help.

  • Do I have to come into your facility to do the paperwork?

    No you do not.  We can make all arrangements online through our website or we can collect all information over the telephone and use email for electronic signatures.

  • Can I witness the cremation?

    Absolutely! (Additional fees apply)

  • Where do the cremations take place?

    All funeral homes need to work with a crematory.  Comfort Cremation uses Rural Crematory, 180 Grove Street, Worcester, MA 01605.  If a family wishes to use a different crematory we are happy to do so. (additional charges may apply)

  • How long does it take to complete the cremation?

    Our goal is to complete the cremation as quickly as possible.  The average turnaround time is 5-7 business days.

  • When can I have a memorial service?

    One of the benefits of cremation is that you can plan a memorial service at your convenience. You are not required to rush through the process, which is so common with traditional burial.

  • Where do I get certified copies of the death certificate?

    Certified copies of the death certificate are available from either the City/Town Clerk’s office where the individual passed away or from the City/Town Clerk’s office where the individual resided in Massachusetts.
